THE EVENT
The Cape Town Flower & Garden Show takes place at the spectacular outdoor setting of Lourensford Wine Estate at the foot of the Helderberg Mountain in Somerset West.
The show will provide visitors with an opportunity to experience the splendour of South Africa’s rich floral heritage.
The event showcases horticulture, nature and art and provides an outdoor gardening experience with landscapers, nurserymen and clubs creating inspirational show-gardens in the picturesque surroundings. The event provides a marketplace to shop for gardening products and services and is a platform for lectures and demonstrations by celebrity gardeners and authors.
The event caters for visitors of all ages with entertainment for adults and children and food ranging from Cape Malay curries, and fresh summery salads and sandwiches, to Italian-style ice-cream and Thai cuisine. Shaded seating areas are provided, but visitors are invited to bring picnic blankets and savour delicious pre-booked picnic hampers or shop at the farmstall. Visitors are also invited to book a table at the Lourensford Wine Estate restaurant.
Not only does the Cape Town Flower & Garden Show offer visitors a sensory experience but it also demonstrates the value of the country’s unique natural resources and the commercial, industrial and social benefits of using these resources better.
Through a diversity of participants the show demonstrates the viability of using horticulture as a means of development within poor communities, and provides a forum for economic co-operation within the floricultural industry.
